Biography
Dr. Anson J. Tsugawa graduated as a veterinarian from the University
of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. Following
graduation, he completed a one-year internship in Small Animal Medicine
and Surgery at the Metropolitan
Veterinary Hospital (Akron, OH) and a three-year residency in Dentistry
and Oral Surgery at the University
of California-Davis, Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. During
the final year of his residency, he was elected as Chief Resident of the
Small Animal Clinic.
In 2002, Dr. Tsugawa returned to the University of Pennsylvania as a Lecturer
in Dentistry. Dr. Tsugawa is currently an associate veterinarian at California
Animal Hospital Veterinary Specialty Group. His clinical and research
interests include surgical oral oncology, maxillofacial fracture repair,
jaw reconstruction and dentomaxillofacial radiology.
Dr. Tsugawa became board certified in veterinary dentistry (Diplomate
of the American Veterinary Dental College) in 2004. He also holds
an appointment on the American Veterinary Dental College Examination Committee
and is the Chairman Designate of the Committee for 2007-2008. Among his
many accolades, Dr. Tsugawa is the 2005 recipient of the American Veterinary
Dental College Outstanding Candidate Award (sponsored by Pfizer Animal
Health), a national award presented to a highly qualified and productive
veterinarian who has recently achieved board certification in veterinary
dentistry.
